Lapwing

Description: Size of a pigeon, it is shining green in the upper parts, with purple, blue and violet sheen; at distance seems dark grey or black, with the pure white belly. There is a long fine tuft on the nape, the undertail is rufous, and the feet are red dark-brown, with four toes. In flight, it stands apart from other sandpipers with the broad rounded wings, and white-topped tail with a black terminal bar. The length is 28-31 cm.

Habitat: A common bird, it nests in meadows, short-grass swamps, damp pastures, and in many areas it settles in the fields.
