Lesser Black-backed Gull

Description: This large gull, with the white head and body, the mantle ranging from wet-grey to dark grey, appears black, with the black and white-spotted wing tips, and is 54-68 cm long.

Habitat: It settles in scattered couples by lakes, open bayous, and in swamps. Sometimes they form thin-stretched colonies. These gulls are seldom encountered, only on their fly-through.
