Description: From the Ringed Plover proper it is different in the smaller size, entirely black bill, yellow leathery ring round the eye, and the black forehead stripe is barred on the back with a thin white line. It is 14-15 cm long.
Habitat: This common bird settles in sandy and pebble shoals in rivers and lakes, as well as in barren sandy or rocky wastelands, on garbage heaps in landfills, in trampled outskirts of settlements, abandoned quarries with smaller pools nearby.
