Description: Size of a starling, it differs from the Little Ringed Plover by the greater size, the black-topped orange bill, no clear yellow ring round the eye, no white terminal bar along the black forehead bar, and the well-visible white stripe along the wing in flight. It is 18-20 cm long.
Habitat: Ringed plovers are rarely encountered. They live on riverine shallows, sandy and rubbly stripes, landfills and timber transfer sites abounding in wood litter, if there is a water edge nearby.
