Description: Knot is a compact bird with a short bill, sizing to around 25 cm. The bill is relatively short and straight, the brown green legs are short too. In the winter coat, the upper parts of the species are ashen grey with light streaks, and the under parts are whitish with weaker grey ripples in the chest and on the flanks. In the summer plumage, both genders have black upper parts with reddish ripples, and the head and under parts are rufous red. In flight the tail and white terminal lines of the wings are visible.
Habitat: A migratory bird, the Knot mainly nests inGreenland,Canada,Alaska and Siberian tundra. The routes are extremely long, ending inWestern Africa.
