Red-Breasted Merganser

Description: The red-breasted mergansers are as large as mallards, with a narrow and long beak. Their bodies are up to 0.5 m long, the wingspan comprises 67-86 cm, and weight is 1000-1300 gr in the male. Their heads, backs and napes are black with a green sheen, the necks and bellies are white, there is a fine streaky pattern on the sides, and the breast is red and white. On the nape of the cock duck, there is a double tuft of untwisted thin feathers. The beak, iris and legs are red.

Habitat: This is a migratory bird, wintering on the seashores of the moderate and subtropical zones.
