Shoveler

Description: It stands out among ducks by its larger spoon-shaped beak abruptly broadening base-to-tip. Shoveler’s feet are orange; the reflecting spot is green, with white lining on the front, and the upper coverts are blue-grey. It is 44-52 cm long.

Habitat: Shoveler mostly settles in open riverine flood plains with damp meadows, lakes, bayous, swamps, and reed-beds, avoiding deep-wood water-bodies. In some areas it is a rare or absent species, in others a common one.
