This is a perennial with a 50-150 cm long stem. The long-stalked thick floating leaves are 7-9 cm long. The 10 cm long peduncles hold inflorescences of 2-4 cm in length.
It is widespread and common in rivers, lakes and ponds. It flowers in June-August.
