Shining Pondweed

Potamogeton lucensThis is a perennial with a thick branchy stem of 60-100 cm in length. The thin submerged semi-transparent and shiny leaves are pointed at tips; they are 10-20 cm long and up to 5 cm broad, on short stalks. The collared peduncles hold 4-6 cm long inflorescences.

It is widespread and common in rivers, lakes, bayous and ponds. It flowers in June-July.
