Bittern

Description: Similar to heron by the looks, this bird is squattier and shorter-legged. Its coloration comprises continuous alteration of streaks in various hues of white and pale-ocher to brown and black. The bittern has yellow-green legs, with its length comprising 70-80 cm.

Habitat: Vast reed-beds in the swamps and along lakeshores, or thickets of cattail, tall sedges and the like marsh vegetation.
