This perennial has an erect stem 60-200 cm tall, branching diagonally upward above the mid-part. The blades of the pre-root and lower stem leaves are large, 20-50 cm long and 4-10 cm broad, lance-shaped – oblong or broad – with a wedged base. The panicles are supported by thick-node peduncles. The internal leaves of the envelope by the fruits are triangular ovoid, 5-7 mm long and 4.5-5.5 mm broad, with goiters and rounded at base. The brownish fruits are 3.5-4.5 mm long 2-2.5 mm thick. It flowers in June, with fruition in July.
