This perennial is 30-120 (150) cm tall. The stem is erect and grooved. The blades of lower leaves are ovoid – oblong or lancet-shaped – 10-30 cm long and 4-12 cm broad, heart-shaped at base, with downward basal blades. The upper ones are smaller and short-stalked. The panicles have pressed-in twigs and a few leaves in the lower part. The internal leaves of the envelope by the fruits are wider ovoid, 5-6 mm long, smooth-edges and thinly serrate below, lacking goiters. The dark brown fruits are 3-3.5 mm long and 1.5-1.7 mm thick.
