Particolored Bat

Vespertilio murinusThe particolored bat’s body reaches up to 6.4 cm in length, with the wingspan between 27 and 33 cm, and the weight comprising 12 to 23 grams. It derives the name from its fur coloration, which is a combination of two colors. Its back is colored from ginger to dark brown, whereas the belly side is either white or gray. The auricles, wings and face are black or dark brown. The wings are thin, and the ears are short, broad and rounded.

The standing longevity record is twelve years.

The areal of the bat spans from Western Europe to the Ussuri delta. In the Gdov and other districts encounters are quite frequent. These modest animals hibernate for the winter.
