Spiked Loosestrife

Lythrum salicariaThis is a perennial species 60-140 cm tall with red-pink flowers of 2.5 cm in diameter assembled in a thick panicle.

It is common and widespread in wet meadows, ditches, swamps and along shorelines. It flowers June through September.
