Common Water Plantain

Alisma plantago-aquaticaThis is a perennial plant 10-100 cm tall. It blossoms in white flowers about 1 cm of diameter, sometimes with a pinkish hue. The dark green leaves are lance-shaped and thick. This is a species common along shores, ditches, in wet and swamped meadows or bog edges. The blossoming period is June through August. The plant is poisonous! It is used in traditional medicine.
